When Kathryn Rainbird-Clarke from Hawkmoth Property Consultants in Milton Keynes picked up her award for ‘Best Individual Fundraiser’ at last years annual Agents Giving ball, little did she know that it would land her on the Board of Directors of the national charity.
Kathryn, who set up her agency last April, received the award in recognition of her tireless commitment to raising money for a range of charities including Cancer Research and The Oasis Project, which builds schools in the Gambia, Sports Trader, Action4Youth, and campaigning for Organ Donation, after putting herself forward as a living organ donor when her mother was desperately ill. But the charity closest to her heart is MIND, for which Kathryn braved a sky dive, the testing Three Peaks Challenge, a several 10k runs.
‘The award carried deep personal meaning to me because this year is the 10th anniversary of my brother’s death,’ says Kathryn. ‘Ollie committed suicide in August 2006, aged just 27, after battling with depression and mental illness. Fund raising has been a lot of hard work and I’ve done some scary challenges – some of which I definitely don’t want to repeat – but it’s all been worth it to raise money for such wonderful causes.
This year Kathryn is putting on her dancing shoes and taking to the floor to compete in the Strictly Agents Dancing competition on 8th December 2017. The fourth annual Agents Giving Charity Ball will take place on 8th December 2017 at The Lancaster London Hotel sponsored by Goodlord. Strictly Agents Dancing will be returning with a whole new line up with twelve of the industries most courageous dancers with their professional couples with one aim – to win the Agents Giving Glitter Ball Trophy.
